Lionel, a little look back on your career...
I started my IT career as a Network Administrator in the financial sector. After 10 years in the telecom sector, I was going in circles and I needed a new challenge. So I decided to take a turn in my career.
By joining ITS Services 3 years ago, I had the opportunity to develop skills in the field of application security and to use my F5 expertise.
What does ITS Services bring to you in the context of your professional development?
The teams knew how to trust me. The managers know how to identify the potential of the experts and support them in order to increase their skills.
In 3 years ITS Services has enabled me to strengthen my knowledge of F5 technologies through increasingly complex missions and 3 training courses.
I benefit from good follow-up with the clients with the possibility of working on missions for major accounts.
Group cohesion and sympathy are part of the DNA of the Lyon team.
Your biggest customer challenge?
My biggest customer challenge was to build a WAF F5 solution with two levels of analysis, then to migrate with my team about fifteen applications from an old one to this new WAF solution with strong time constraints.
Your technical expertise?
Over the years, I have successfully implemented and deployed various types of F5 BIG-IP platforms, hardware or VE with BIG-IP modules like LTM, ASM, APM and DNS Service for our customers. I also have expertise on the BIG-IQ product.
I've been trained on all of these modules, so I can say I'm pretty comfortable with them, but my favorite BIG-IP product is the ASM module, because of my security specialization.
What motivates you every day in your work?
As a Security Engineer and technical specialist of F5 technologies, I assist customers in building and developing their projects based on F5 security solutions to secure their applications and infrastructure.
The advantage with F5 solutions is that you never get tired of this technology, I learn new things every day. My time is punctuated by participation in architecture project meetings and debugging as part of problem management.
Do you have any F5 certifications? If so, why are they important to you and how have they contributed to your career?
Yes, I am F5-CA (F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator). At the end of March, I passed the F5 301a certification and I plan to continue the F5 certification course to try to get the F5-CSE Security Holy Grail! F5 certifications provide a high level of expertise, global knowledge on F5 solutions and how to offer the best choice of products and solutions according to the customer's needs. They are therefore essential for me in my missions.
And if not?
In my spare time, I like to play ice hockey or spend time with my family. I also like to brew beer and play online poker on the weekends.
When I was a child, I was fascinated by Indiana Jones and dreamed of being an archaeologist, going on adventures and discovering treasures. Today, when I see the projects I work on and the time I spend looking for solutions or identifying root causes, I tell myself that the dream and vision I had as a child are not so far away after all.
